It appears that Elizabeth Montgomery did not particularly like the " Samantha " image . She refused to do her famous nose twitch after the series ended and later appeared to go out of her way to play roles from the seamier side of life . Her Bewitched alter ego was Serena , her sister - which she also played . Serena could ( or is it should ) have been spanked several times during the series .
